Inox, the next big name in Chennai
Saturday, January 20, 2007
Inox Multiplex finally opened in Chennai on Friday [19/1/2007] at the Chennai City Centre mall.

The Multiplex looks chic, compact and has got 909 seats totally. The tickets are priced at 120 which is a premium rate and Rs10 for the first row according to the Govt policy in here. But i would say its worth the money for a premium experience.

The seats are comfortable, the people managing the multiplex are friendly. Even got to hear "Enjoy the movie", "Thank you" and other nice to hear words from the theatre people. These courtesies are rare to hear in chennai.

The "Box office" where the sell the tickets were at 2 places. The one is the ground floor of the mall is cramped and not organised so well. Hope it gets better. Security was tight as in the people who enter the theatre are frisked and body checks done. Well no complaints on that one though. Small price for the security.

The Ambience in the multiplex is beautiful - inside and outside too. The Sound system good and screens decently large enough.

Other than the "box office" bookings as they call, bookings can be done throught Internet and through sms, though i have not tried them personally.

Another main feature about Inox is the snack bar -"Refuel" which serves only vegetarian snacks. Kudos to them on that.

Overall i liked the experience inspite of the premium amount i spent on the tickets.

Waiting to see how Satyam and Mayajaal counter the Inox challenge.

Chennai, the City of my love and my 2nd Innings
Someday im goana write a book on chennai, just mesmerised with this city.
My love affair with this City has started once more after living a few years abroad. Can say Chennai lured me back

The touch of conservationism to the life of a cosmopolitan this city has got it all. Gone are the days when non-natives felt lost in Madras. Language is no longer a barrier. Now even the autorickshaw drivers understand english.

I have been living in this city from the time when entertainment as in eating out was always Saravana Bhavan and movies were always in Devi, Udhayam or Satyam Cinemas or a walk by the Marina Beach.

These days chennai has got plenty of source of entertainment. Its no more Saravanas, If i feel like eating lebanese i got the Cedars and Newyorker and its desserts in Eden or Tangerine.

If i feel like yapping with friends then over coffee and hookah we catch up at cafe mocha or the Cafe coffee day. Or if it just over a cofee and wifi then its the barista..and anyday the Burgers at KFC.

Well those were on eat outs, and its Elliots and thiruvamyur beach and those unamed ones dotted on the ECR road if i feel Marina is crowded.

Well if i need a pleasent drive, ECR is always there and drive along it to Mahablipuram or Pondicherry. Ah on the real entertainment - movies, well Satyam has become hep and then we have the Mayajaal, Inox [it opened yesterday 19/1/2007 and being a hardcore chennai fan, watched a movie there on its first day ]and many more multiplex and waiting for the best of em all the - PVR.

Another form of Enriching entertainment im experiencing these days is the "Theatre plays" and thanks to the "Rebelz", Im a part of it though - its back stage. I somehow like live plays are more interesting than cinemas which are taken after so many takes and re-takes.

Who can forget the Chennai Carnatic Music season in december when Carnatic music lovers from different corners of the world descend to chennai to get a taste of the heavenly music.

mm yea chennai has got them all from Bikes n Barell to Music sabhas, to saravana bhavan to the Cofee day and KFC. Where else can you find this rich and interesting combination?
